For thousands of years silk thread was considered one of the most valuable materials. China carefully protected the secret of its production for centuries. In the sixth century the Byzantine emperor Justinian I changed the course of history when monks secretly brought silkworm eggs from Asia hidden inside hollow bamboo canes. This moment allowed silk production to begin in Byzantium. Silk soon became a symbol of power, refinement, and exceptional craftsmanship. Its softness and natural flexibility made it an ideal material for pearl jewelry.
With the development of modern technology new materials entered the world of jewelry. Nylon, created in the twentieth century, made it possible to produce threads that are more resistant to moisture and daily wear while preserving visual lightness. Later, threads with a steel core and protective coating appeared. These advanced structures allow designers to create longer strands, layered compositions, and heavier gemstone pieces while maintaining comfort.

In my jewelry I work with all these types of threads, selecting each one according to the nature of the design. Silk preserves a sense of heritage and fluid elegance. Nylon provides stability and lasting reliability. Reinforced cable threads offer the freedom to create more expressive and substantial forms.
